For Woods Island (video still): colour, sound, 3:56
This video was created from a 1945 educational film about fishing and fish production off the coast of BC. We used this film to dramatize the important role that canned herring played in feeding ground troops in Europe during WWII. The audio is from the east coast of Canada and documents the very first troops shipping out of the harbour in Halifax.
